My hometown and childhood classmates: then in NYT Magazine’s “Being 13” issue, now in NYT Magazine’s “Then and Now” feature. The photographer wanted to depict ”popularity codified,” so obviously the result was a passive-aggressive suburban nightmare. Mostly everyone blamed the terrible New York journalist interloper for everything.
Seeing it now, all I can think is, “thank god 4chan and internet commenting didn’t exist back then.”
Ahahaha I remember this, when the Times Magazine used Edina to illustrate awful privileged suburbia teenageness. Of course they all moved to New York to work in PR and marketing (says the blogger in Brooklyn).
oof, this is a tough one. brings up a lot of shit.
